About this piece
Yellow bandhani — a clean, warm yellow ground with the fine pale dot texture of the resist-tie process covering it completely. The yellow is bright and even, and the bandhani texture breaks the surface up just enough to stop the colour from reading as flat.
Yellow bandhani has an energy to it that the deeper-coloured bandhani pieces don't — the lightness of the colour and the fine dot pattern together give the cloth a quality that catches light rather than absorbing it. The thousands of small knots that made this pattern were tied by hand, one by one, before the cloth ever touched the dye.
