About this piece

Deep green blocks spread across white cotton in a clean, open arrangement. The green is full-bodied — forest rather than lime — and the block shapes give it a modern geometric feel that sits comfortably alongside the handmade quality of the dye.

The wax defines each block boundary before the green goes on. When the wax lifts, the white ground re-emerges between the blocks, giving the design its open, balanced rhythm. Scaled across the full length of a kaftan, it has an ease to it.
