About this piece
Green and brown palm leaves on white cotton — the two colours work together the way they do in nature, the green carrying freshness and the brown grounding it. On the full length of a night gown, the palm shapes fan across the cloth at varied angles, giving the design a loose, natural movement.
Building a two-colour palm design requires separate wax passes for each colour — the green protected while the brown went on, and vice versa. Where the two colours overlap at the leaf edges, the mixing creates a deep, complex third tone that adds dimension to the design without being planned for.
