About this piece
Yellow ovals across white cotton — the yellow is clean and warm, and the ovals scatter across the cloth with an even, open spacing. The design is simple and direct, and the colour does most of the work — bright without harshness, warm without heaviness.
Yellow in batik responds to the texture of the cotton more visibly than darker colours do, and you can see the weave's character in how the dye settled.
