About this piece
Cool blue dots scattered across white cotton — small, even, and quietly precise. The blue has a clarity to it that sits well in any light, neither too deep nor too pale, and the dots cover the cloth in a pattern that reads as texture from a distance and as craft up close.
Each dot is a point where the wax held the cotton white while the blue dye spread across everything around it. The slight variation in their edges — where the wax gave a little or held firm — is what makes this a batik and not a print.
