About this piece
Blue tie-dye circles across white cotton — each one deep indigo at its core, lightening outward through layers of blue into the undyed ground. The circles are distributed across the cloth with an organic irregularity that gives the pattern a free, unforced quality.
The depth of blue at the centre of each circle depends on how tightly the fabric was bound and how long it stayed in the dye bath. Where the binding was tightest, the colour is most concentrated. Where it loosened slightly, the blue fades earlier. That variation is the whole point.
