About this piece
Pink S-curves flowing across white cotton — the arcs repeat across the cloth in a pattern that moves without hurrying. The pink is warm and even, and the S-shape has a sinuous quality that makes the design feel more fluid than geometric patterns do.
Each S was drawn freehand in wax — the same shape each time but interpreted slightly differently with each stroke. The variation in curve width across the cloth is the natural result of a hand working at pace, and it's what keeps the pattern from feeling mechanical.
