About this piece
Blue flowers across white cotton — the blue is a medium, clear tone that sits between sky and navy, and the blooms spread across the cloth with a confident spacing. The white ground between the flowers keeps the design airy and well-balanced.
The dye here built up slightly at the petal edges where it concentrated as it dried, creating a faint deepening around each bloom's outline. That edge detail is particular to batik and is part of what gives the floral its character — flowers that look like they were grown, not printed.
