About this piece

Green and brown palm leaves in a two-tone batik — the green is earthy and full, the brown grounds it, and the palm shapes work across the cloth in a design that reads as naturally tropical without trying to be. The two colours complement each other the way they would in an actual palm grove.

Two-colour batik palms require separate wax applications for each colour, which means the leaves took two passes to build. Where the green and brown meet at the leaf edges, the overlap creates a third tone — a natural darkening that wasn't planned but that adds depth to the design.
