About this piece

Brown oval shapes across white cotton — the ovals are generous in size and spacing, giving the pattern an open, unhurried feel. The brown is a warm mid-tone, neither too dark nor too pale, that sits well against both fair and deep skin tones.

The ovals were each drawn in wax as a single continuous line, then the fabric was dyed. The slight imprecision where the wax line meets itself at the end of each shape is part of what makes the pattern feel handmade rather than templated.
