About this piece
Pink bandhani across the full cloth — a warm, full pink ground covered in the small pale dots of the bind-and-dye process. The dots create a fine, all-over texture that gives the fabric a surface quality that shifts in different lights, softer and more restful than a plain-dyed piece of the same colour.
Each pale mark is where the cotton was pinched and tied before the pink dye went on. The uniformity of the dot pattern across the whole night gown reflects the patience of the hand that made it — thousands of individual bindings, each one holding a small piece of the cloth back from the colour.
