About this piece

Red and white circles arranged in an open, repeating pattern — the red has warmth to it, leaning towards terracotta rather than pure crimson. Against the white, it feels festive without being overwhelming.

The circles were formed the same way every batik shape is — wax first, then dye. The wax protected the white ground while the red flooded everything else. What came back after the wax was removed was this: a rhythm of red and white that belongs entirely to the craft.
