About this piece
Brown S-curves across white cotton — warm and rhythmic, the flowing design has a settled quality that works particularly well in a night gown. The brown is earthy and even, and the repeating arc pattern gives the cloth a gentle visual movement without restlessness.
The S-lines were drawn freehand in wax before dyeing, each one a single continuous stroke. The brown dye filled the space between and around the arcs, and when the wax was removed the pattern emerged — curves that belong together because the same hand drew each one.
