About this piece
Deep wine flowers scattered across white cotton — rich and full, the floral design has a warmth and generosity to it. The wine is a dense burgundy that sits heavily in the petals and lightens slightly at the tips, giving each bloom a natural tonal variation.
Drawing floral motifs in wax requires the artisan to hold the shape of each petal in mind as the tool moves across the cloth. The slight variation in petal width from one flower to the next is the mark of that process — an intentional design interpreted freshly each time.
